Canby Trail Connection Meeting

Citizens interested in promoting a walking/biking trail around the Canby community are encouraged to attend an informational/planning meeting on Wednesday, October 27th from 5:00 to 6:00 pm in the Canby High School media center.  At the last meeting of the Canby Trails Connection, Holly Larsen from the US National Park Service presented a Power Point overview of preliminary trail planning.  Pictures and maps provided the background for the discussion of multiple routes around the Canby community.  Ms Larsen described a 2-5 year time line for completing the trail.  Possible revenue sources were discussed.  Many grant applications require matching dollars or pledged resources.

Results of the Canby Trail Connection Survey were also shared.  Over 100 community residents completed the survey.  94% of the respondents supported creating a safe, scenic route to walk and bike.  75% wanted the trail to go both around and through the community.  Lake Sylvan was identified as an area in need of more trail connections.
