Old Business:  Belinda Evjen presented a budget for the 2002 year for the Chamber.  Belinda and Al Fordyce had worked on this budget after researching the income and expenses from the years 1999, 2000 and 2001.  It was presented very well and a motion was made by Pat Stanley and seconded by Joyce Olson-Baer to accept the 2002 budget.  Motion was carried.

Florene Dybsetter and Chris Grussing will be attending the Women’s Club meeting on March 19, 2002 at Neva Kamrath’s to present the group with the banner plan that we are working on for the City.  We have been informed that the Women’s Club has some interest in working with the Chamber on this venture.  Following this meeting we will be going back to the business’ that have sent responses about the banners to visit with them and then hopefully will proceed with ordering the banners so that they are in place by June of 2002.

The Community Fair will be held at the Elementary School on April 8th from 5 to 8PM.  The Chamber will have a booth there.  We plan to have a fishing pond for the kids.  They will fish and get a prize and a sticker.  Chris Grussing will take care of  the things that we need for the evening.  Chamber members will help man the booth.  A motion was made by Pat Stanley and seconded by Al Fordyce that we spend no more than $50.00 on this event.  Motion was carried.

Taste of Nations will be on Wednesday, April 24th from 5 to 7 PM and we will be present at this event.  Ron Fjerkenstad and Pat Stanley will work on an ethnic dish to serve that day at MN West.

We tabled the Spring Conference of Highway 75 to be held at PK’S on May 4th until our April meeting.

We are working on thoughts for the Chamber Float for parades this Summer.  We will center our thoughts around our new Winter event “Polar Plunge”.

We discussed having a ribbon cutting for John Thelen.  Diana will get in touch with him as to when the best time would be.  He has an Investment business that he is operating out of his home.

We decided that we would do “Duck Races” and some type of fundraiser for the Chamber during Depot Days this Summer.

We discussed the letter from the Post Prom Committee to help support their drug free after prom party.  A motion was made by Chris Grussing and seconded by Pat Stanley to donate $50.00 in Canby Bucks to this event.  Motion was carried.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting.  Motion was carried.

The next meeting will be on April 9th at 5PM at DeToy’s.  We encourage any one who is interested in Chamber events to attend.

Respectfully submitted,

Florene Dybsetter, Secretary/Treasurer
