The Canby Chamber of Commerce met at 5PM on August 13th at P.K. Egans. The meeting was called to order by President Diana Fliss. Three of our current board members have decided that they will not run again. So Pat Stanley, Joyce Olson-Baer and Chris Grussing will have completed their term after the Arctic Blast event to be held in January. Florene Dybsetter also informed the board that she will be stepping down as Secretary/Treasurer after the Winter event. We also have two more vacancies created when Jodi Weber from MN West stepped off the board and Belinda Evjen resigned early as well. Therefore we need 5 new members. Diana will put an ad in the newspaper pertaining to these vacancies. The Banners have arrived and Chris and Florene have delivered the map to Chris Hubsy at the City office. Now it will be up to Chris to get the banners placed on the poles. We are working on ideas for the Arctic Blast. We will have a schedule next meeting as to who will handle what and we will be recruiting help and ideas for the event. We discussed a “Meet the Police” event. We will be talking to the police department about details for this event. A request came in for a donation to the Gary Legion to help a flag lighting project at the Gary Cemetery. A motion was made by Pat and seconded by Chris to donate $50.00 to the project. Motion was carried. We received a video on the Junior Miss Pageant. This would be an event we would like to become involved in. We will view the tape and then contact several individuals that would be interested in working with this project. We discussed the King of Trails event that will be held on October 5th. We will be in contact with that committee to see exactly what they would like us to do. A ribbon cutting for the Renegade Speedway was discussed. Florene will be talking to Jennifer Long to see when this would be most convenient for them. A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Our next meeting will be on September 10th at the VFW. Everyone is welcome. Respectfully submitted,
