Canby Chamber of Commerce meeting

January 14th, 2003 – PK Egans

 

The Canby Chamber of Commerce met at 5:00 PM on January 14th at PK Egans with the following board members present:  Diana Fliss, Pat Stanley, Joyce Olson-Baer, Christine Grussing and Ron Fjerkenstad.  Also present were Don Beman and Mike Baer.

 

Diana called the meeting to order and read the secretary’s report.

 

The board discussed the arrangement that was worked out with the Canby News to house the Chamber office.  We will pay them $75 per month plus provide the phone line.  After six months, we’ll take a look at the arrangement and determine if this meets the needs of both parties.

 

The board asked that we place a formal thank you in the Canby News thanking Florene Dybsetter for her years of service to the Chamber and the community.  Florene resigned as secretary/treasurer effective at the end of 2002.  Diana will prepare something and get it to the Canby News.

 

Arctic Blast was discussed and details finalized.  It will be held this weekend – January 17th and 18th.

 

The board again discussed the need to find replacement board members.  We will continue to pursue individuals to serve in this capacity.

 

Joyce motioned and Christine seconded a motion to appoint Diana to act as temporary secretary/treasurer until a replacement can be found.  Since our checks require two signatures – Diana will sign as secretary/treasurer and Pat will sign as the executive officer.  This would be for checking account --- and savings account --- at First Security Bank and for savings account ---- at the Canby Credit Union.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

Pat motioned and Ron seconded a motion to have Florene’s name removed from all bank accounts.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

The board discussed finding someone to temporarily do the treasurer function.  Diana will pursue this further.

 

Diana presented a list of outstanding bills.

The board will need to contact Quality Hydraulics to see if they’re interested in a ribbon cutting.

 

Our next meeting will be February 11th at DeToy’s at 5:00 PM in conjunction with our annual meeting.
