Canby Chamber of Commerce meeting

February 11^th, 2003 – DeToy’s

 

The Canby Chamber of Commerce met at 5:00 PM on February 14^th at PK Egans with the following board members present:  Diana Fliss, Pat Stanley, Al Fordyce, Derrick Ruether and Angie Groenhoff.  Also present were Don & Ellie Beman, Dave & Liz Verhelst, Larry & Ronda Duis, Vanessa Ruether and Christine & Jason Grussing.

 

Diana called the meeting to order and read the secretary’s report.

 

Diana presented the treasurer’s report.

 

A formal thank you was placed in the Canby News thanking Florene Dybsetter for her years of service to the Chamber and the community

 

Diana welcomed two of our new board members – Derrick and Angie.  Jeff Harms was out of town and unable to attend.

 

Diana presented a list of outstanding bills.

·        Legionville $80

 A motion was made and seconded to pay the bills as presented with the understanding that we get some more detail on the Bakery bill.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Minnesota West will hold their Taste of Nations on April 23^rd.  The board will again participate.  Diana will notify Dede Burlingame.

 

There was a discussion regarding the Lazarus Creek project.  It was decided to send a letter of support.

 

The 2003 budget was presented.  A motion was made and seconded to adopt it as presented.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

Don Beman asked permission to have Sig Armitage make a chamber sign to match the letters on the Canby News building.  He received an estimate from Sig of $25.  A motion was made and seconded to approve having this done.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

A motion was made and seconded to have the Chamber of Commerce again coordinate Hat Daze.  This was suggested by the members at the annual meeting.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

Our next meeting will be March 11^th at PK Egan’s at 5:00 PM.
