Canby Chamber of Commerce meeting

May 13^th, 2003 – PK Egan’s

 

The Canby Chamber of Commerce met at 5:00 PM on May 13th at the PK Egan’s with the following board members present:  Diana Fliss, Pat Stanley, Angie Groenhoff, Jeff Harms, Al Fordyce and Ron Fjerkenstad.  Also present were Ellie Beman, Becky Hansen, Gwen Dinius, Stacey Sik, Joyce Olson-Baer, Mike Baer, Sandra Miller and Kate Livermore.

 

Diana called the meeting to order and read the secretary’s report.

 

Diana presented the treasurer’s report.

 

The Board reviewed proposals for magnetic signs to be used for participating in parades.  A motion was made and seconded to order a sign that says:

 

Canby Hat Daze, June

Arctic Blast, January

Canby, Minnesota

 

with blue lettering and a black border and a cost not to exceed $125.00.  Diana will contact Derrick to have a proof made and get it ordered.

 

An update was given on the flower barrels.

 

Diana presented a list of outstanding bills.

·        Canby News $75.00

·        Prairie Hub $82.75

·        Frontier $41.74 and $42.46

·        A New Leaf - $113.97

·        Nemitz Agency - $266.00

 

A motion was made and seconded to pay the bills.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Jeff Harms, on behalf of Minnesota West, presented a request for assistance in funding a project at the tennis courts adjacent to the college campus.  A motion was made and seconded to make a $100 donation towards the project.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

We received a request from the Holiday Ramblers to provide rolls for the first weekend in June when they meet in Canby.  A motion was made and seconded to provide rolls for Saturday morning.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

The Chamber received an invitation from Eldeen Baer (on behalf of KT Region #3) to attend their spring conference in Pipestone on May 17^th.

 

Hat Daze was discussed and details finalized.

 

Our next regular meeting will be June 10th at the Canby VFW at 5:00 PM.
