6)     Canby Events Committee (new business):

·        Christmas Planning/Activities – Diana gave an update on the Christmas planning. Some the events that are being planned include Santa House @ PK Egan’s/Ron Wick lace’s main office, Sponsored Movies, Santa Claus, and the hospital bazaar.

·        Artic Blast – The following events are some of the events that are planned to take place during this weekend celebration (Fri, 1/28 & Sat, 1/29).

o       Friday events include: Chili Cook-off/Dance at Canby VFW (6:00 pm);

o       Saturday events include: Canby Rotary Wrestling Tournament, Court-wist party sponsored by Women’s Federated Group, Kid’s ice fishing contest, Polar Plunge, Free Matinee at Canby Theatre, Snow Sculpture Contest, Medallion hut, and lighting contest.

7)     City of Canby Annual Newsletter/Publication – The city is sponsoring the production of an annual newsletter specific to Canby local businesses and tourism sites. The Canby News will help with the production and distribution. The cost will be absorbed by local advertising in the newsletter. This is another good way to promote Canby business and tourism. This will be distributed in Canby and other communities in Southwest MN and possibly parts of South Dakota.

8)     Annual Canby Chamber of Commerce Meeting-2004: Dates and locations were discussed for the 2004 Annual Canby Chamber of Commerce meeting. The two dates that will be decided upon during the November Chamber meeting are Sat, Jan 21st or Sat, Feb 5th. Ideas for an event include a sit-down dinner, bowling, and potluck w/musical entertainment. It was agreed upon by all attendees that a potluck w/entertainment would be the best choice.  Jeff Harms is checking if the SW Campus Community center is available any of these dates. The event will be open to the community not just Canby Chamber members. The Chamber meeting attendees are doing research to determine ideas for entertainment.

9)      Next Meeting: Tues, Nov. 9th, 5:00 pm at PK Egan’s
