2)    Reports: Laurie called the meeting to order. The Secretary’s report was passed around to all attendees.  The minutes were reviewed and approved (1st-Sabrina, 2nd-Becky).  Don presented the Treasurer’s report.  The report was reviewed and approved (1st-Amy, 2nd-Sabrina).

Old Business

3)    Boy Scout Project:  Laurie reported that Pete Snortum does not have a supplier that carries pavers that can be engraved.  Pete referred Laurie to a business in Marshall.  Laurie contacted them and they will be getting back to her.  Pete felt that half brick for the floor would be acceptable because no one is going to be driving on it.  Laurie also presented information from a company in Wisconsin.  A comment was made that it should be with a local company.  Ellie suggested that Laurie check with the monument companies.  The Chamber will continue to work on this project.  Also, the Chamber would need to pay Pete Snortum for the work.  If a scout decides to help with this project, Pete will volunteer his time.  The Chamber has not paid for anything for this project.

4)    Marketing Committee & Activity Committee:  Tori Hanna brought Ellie an Explore 1st Street West brochure.  It is a brochure for the Café Midway, Briar Rose Fibers, A New Leaf, Nemitz Agency, and The Pizza Place.  These businesses have formed a coalition.  It costs about $15 per person for the brochure.  There are coupons on the back of the brochure for the businesses on 1st Street West.  The work is still being done on the ad for the Marshall Independent.  There will be a quarter page ad for Holiday Preview.  The advertisement will back up the business advertising that the marketing committee is working on.  The Santa house will be moved to the Connection and the Connection will be doing photos as a fundraiser.   The Chamber will pay for the photos so the committee can advertise them as free.  The Holiday Preview will be advertised on the radio.  The Girl Scouts will be caroling and may do a few evenings if they have enough carolers.  There will be the drawing for the $25 in Canby bucks.  There will be bowling again and the maximum amount for the bowling would be $350 and that is if the lanes are full all afternoon.  Ellie commented that the MN West did not want to sponsor the bowling.  Becky is going to check with Katie Maranelli on this and contact Ellie.  There could possibly be two sponsors.   Maybe First Security Bank, Cenex, Rotary, or the VFW would be interested in sponsoring the bowling.  The fire department is going to drive Santa around and deliver him to the Connection on the 23rd.  There will be open houses again at Christmas.  Joyce Baer has prepared the calendar.  The calendar will go in the Canby News.  The $1500 ads will run on November 30th.  Laurie is going to call the City to make sure the decorations and banners are up for Holiday Preview, which is November 23rd.  There was discussion about the movie for Christmas.  The movies are $400 per movie.   The Shriners host one movie and the Jaycees host a movie.  The Chamber approved $300 for the movie.  The other $100 may be sent to the Jaycees.  The Artic Blast quilt has been completed.  The activities committee called Ron Fjerkenstad regarding the Del Clark activities.  These activities will be similar to last year’s activities.  There will be a change for Klondike Kate this year.  The Blue & Gold foundation is having a fundraiser for this event.  A local band is going to perform a free concert and they will be lining up some singers to compete for Klondike Kate.  The quilting guild that Bonnie Longtin belongs to is going to do a quilt show at the school.  The Chili Cook-off will be the same as last year.  Aaron Peterson’s band will be playing at the Chili Cook-off.  The Connection will provide donuts and hot cocoa at the plunge.  There may possibly be a tent this year for the plunge.  The Women’s Club is checking on the court whist tournament.

5)    Energy Fair:  Becky reported that MN West tried to have a meeting about this, but could not due to tech issues.  There is a wind program meeting at the end of the month.  John Dunlap is going to visit with them about speakers.  Ellie discussed a Youth Energy Summitt that Laurie Kallhoff and the school physics class is working on.  They are proposing changes to make the school and their homes greener.  One suggestion is to change the exit signs from red to green LED and get a refurbished wind tower.

6)    Office Committee:  Amy discussed the Office Committee.  She has asked Don to order a four foot high rack for brochures from Office Depot.  It was approximately $92.00.  Also, she discussed instead of having a table cloth for the banner, the Chamber should have a 6’ x 2’ vinyl banner.  Something that can be hung up on the wall, or between two posts or trees, and is easy to take care of.  Bonnie Longtin could not find a table cloth large enough and passed on the banner.  Amy received two quotes from Sarah at the Canby Print Shop.  One banner for $96.00 plus tax and one banner for $103.60 plus tax.  Amy and Sabrina are going to check with Sarah to see if they can see a sample of what it would look like.  Then Amy may go ahead and order it.  Also, the Chamber needs to have an evening or afternoon of cleaning.  Amy and Sabrina are going to look at the calendar and see what works.  This will not be until January.

7)    Open Chamber seats:  Chamber discussed the open chamber seats in January.  Karen does not feel comfortable being president.  She has asked Ellie if she would be willing to co-chair.  The Chamber needs business people to be on the board.  There was discussion about the future of the Chamber.

8)    Next meeting & adjournment:  Motion by Becky, 2nd by Sabrina to move the December meeting to December 12th.  Motion approved.  Motion by Amy, 2nd by Becky to adjourn.  Motion approved.
