4)      Report on Community Recognition Dinner:  Ellie and Bonnie will decorate on Friday afternoon of the dinner.  Two Spirit awards will be given; Ron Fjerkenstad and Kari Harding.  Don made a motion and Pat seconded, all approved.  Rebecca Weber, Karen and Chuck Houtman will review the candidates for Citizen of the Year on Monday and make a recommendation.  We also decided having the Citizen of the Year from the prior year award the new recipient at the banquet.

5)      Report on Hat Daze:  Ellie reported that Matt Wagner had called her to switch the weekend of Hat Daze to Father’s Day weekend because of his Fly-In event.  The group discussed that the Annual Meeting was announced to all members and it was at that time that Hat Daze dates were discussed.  Pat stated that we will continue to help Matt in advertising his event the following weekend.  Pat was going to call Matt to discuss.  A suggestion was made to have a Pancake Breakfast on the Sunday of Hat Daze.  Ellie made a motion to keep the June 20,21 and 22nd dates for 2008.  Pat seconded.  All approved.

6)      Discuss Board Member Positions:  We still do not have any more new prospective board members with the exception of the New Leaf.  However, the owners of the New Leaf are feeling quite busy with their new found success and are debating whether or not they have time to commit.  A motion was made by Karen to approach the New Leaf and have them as a board member and that they send an employee to the chamber meetings to report, which is similar to what Minnesota West did when they first joined.  Don made the motion, Katie seconded, all approved.

7)      Revised Membership Dues Structure A dues letter will be sent out describing the new layout.  It would look like the following:  Individuals $30, Organizations $50, All businesses $125 base rate up to 5 employees, 6 – 10 employees $125 plus $5.00 per employee, 11 – 25 $125 plus $3.00 per employee, 26 plus employees plus $125 plus $1.00 per employee.

8)      2008 Budget:  Ellie commented that we need to better track the budget at all times and that we have $6,000 which doesn’t include the dues.  Approved by consensus.

9)      Fix Up Fund:  Katie will review the letter and turn into the Canby News.  The turn in date will be the Friday before and this information will be included with the Dues Structure mailing

10)  Holiday Street Decorations:  A discussion was held whether or not the city should be involved but further discussion deemed it necessary.  The Activity committee will bring it up and try to group some volunteers to approach the city.  Some ideas for decorations included artificial greens with lights wrapped around them and banners on both sides of the poles, similar to Marshall.

11)  Adjournment: Motion by Pat, second by Don; motion approved.

12)  Next Meeting:  Regular Monthly Meeting – Wednesday, March 19th @ 12:00pm – DeToy’s.
