Old Business

4)      Hat Daze Report:  Ellie presented the week long Hat Daze activity report that the activities committee submitted.  A final schedule is being completed and will be publicized.

a.      Birthday party:  It was discussed to serve 350 cupcakes decorated in Canby lancer colors and lemonade from the bakery because of the lower cost.  Katie brought quotes from both the bakery and Jim’s Market.

b.      Parade:  Jody Olson will be asked to serve as Grand Marshall of the parade since she is Citizen of the Year.

c.       Parade Committee/Helpers:  Anyone who is helping out with the parade will be wearing a white sailor hat.  Supplies/expenses for the parade thrust include letters, envelopes, forms and postage which will be billed to the

Chamber.

5)      Communication:  Tabled until next meeting on May 21.

6)      Boyd Good Time Days Parade:  Sunday, June 8 at 2 p.m.

7)      Meander Art Crawl Sponsorship:  Think about if we want to sponsor the Meander.

8)      Post Prom Donation:  Ask for money but Chamber passed a resolution last year that if an organization is also soliciting money from businesses that the Chamber does not contribute.

New Business

9)      Back to School Bash:  All thought it was a good idea but Pat suggested to check with the public school/Sandy Arndt and St. Peter’s to make sure they are on board.  Perhaps the school could hand out information to parents. Maybe include a bike rodeo, police department, safety, etc.

10)  Christmas Decorations:  Nominate 2 – 3 volunteers to participate on the decoration committee.  Some thoughts include adding LED lights and go simple with greenery and the red banners.  Take down the banners after the holidays and leave the greenery up until after Artic Blast.  Bonnie was going to work with the City, either John or Chris, and contact Chad Liebl from Otter Tail and perhaps Liz Verhelst to tackle this project and get it rolling.

11)  Dues Letter:  The dues letter was handed out and approved by consensus.  In addition, information about the Fix It Up fund will be included in the mailing.  There will be 2 - $500 awards given to any businesses.  The selection will be made from a random drawing.  Pictures of the final project need to be submitted to the Chamber.  Also added to the letter would be a request for websites and emails so that a list can be put together that would link this information from the Chamber website.

12)  Prairie Waters Ad:  Ellie presented information on the ad and that it would cost $338 for a 2.5” x 2.5” camera ready.  Discussion as to what to place on the ad ranged from MECCA to camping.  In the end, Pat made a motion to not do the ad this year and Ellie seconded; motion passed.

13)  Adjournment: Motion by Bonnie, second by Pat; motion approved.

Next Meeting:  Regular Monthly Meeting – Wednesday, May 21, @ 12:00pm, DeToy’s.
